Somalia Accuses Ethiopia of Sending Weapons to Puntland

Somalia has accused Ethiopia of violating its sovereignty by delivering two lorries of unauthorized weapons to the semi-autonomous Puntland region.

This arms shipment, according to Somali officials, was sent without the knowledge or approval of the Somali federal government, which sees it as a breach of its territorial integrity.

Puntland, which enjoys a significant degree of autonomy within Somalia, has had a complex relationship with the federal government.

Consequently, the alleged delivery of arms by Ethiopia could further strain ties.

As of now, Ethiopia has not responded to these allegations, and it remains unclear what the intention behind the shipment was.

This incident could escalate tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia, two countries that share a long and often turbulent border.

Both nations are involved in regional security dynamics and counterterrorism efforts, particularly against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The Somali government views this act as undermining its authority and sovereignty over the distribution of arms within its borders.
