Somalia Accuses Taiwan of Violating Territorial Integrity by Opening Representative Office in Somaliland

The decision by the government of Taiwan to open a Representative Office in Somaliland’s capital of Hargeisa has come under heavy criticism.

The Federal Government of Somalia has accused Taiwan of violating its territorial integrity.

Mogadishu issued a hard-hitting diplomatic letter to the Taiwan government expressing its displeasure at the latest developments.

Somalia highlighted the “reckless attempts by Taiwan” to infringe on the country’s sovereignty. It also mentioned the attempt by Taipei to “violate Somalia’s territorial integrity.”

Consequently, it urged Taiwan to “stop all misinformed ventures and activities” in any part of the East African country.

The government in Mogadishu reassured Taiwan of its intentions to “pursue the appropriate measures as per international laws to protect its unity, independence, and territory.”

Mogadishu’s indignation comes a day after Taiwan opened the offices of its Representative to Somaliland in Hargeisa.
