Somalia’s Education Minister, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, emphasized that despite limited resources, the government is committed to ensuring that no child is left behind, even in the most challenging circumstances.
The ministry’s strategies focus on several key areas that include the recruitment and training of teachers as a means for enhancing the quality of education.
He called on different stakeholders to create opportunities for students through scholarship programs to promote equal access to education, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In his view, the rebuilding and renovation of schools is crucial for providing safe and conducive learning environments, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
The education minister urged for increased engagements with local communities to support education initiatives and encourage school enrollment and retention.
The ministry is not in doubt regarding the importance of collaborating with international partners, NGOs, and private entities to mobilize resources and implement effective education programs either.
The minister also added that stakeholders would work together to establish robust systems to monitor, evaluate, and enhance education quality and outcomes across the country.
These strategic focuses aim to create a more inclusive and resilient education system in Somalia, addressing the diverse challenges faced by students and educators alike.
