ALGIERS — Somalia’s Ambassador to Algeria, H.E. Yusuf Ahmed Hassan, recently met with senior officials from the Council of Nation (Senate) at their headquarters in Algiers.
The diplomatic gathering centered on enhancing parliamentary relations and establishing stronger legislative connections between the two nations.
Strategic Friendship Committee
The primary objective of the talks was to outline the creation of a “strategic friendship committee” for the upper legislative chambers. Discussions specifically addressed the framework for a bilateral committee aimed at promoting shared interests and collaborative objectives between the Somali and Algerian parliaments.
During the meeting, the Algerian Senate President highlighted the long-standing historical ties between the two countries.
Continental Cooperation
The Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, responsible for African Affairs, also participated in the discussions. The Minister underscored the significance of parliamentary cooperation in tackling broader continental issues, advocating for a unified approach to legislative challenges across Africa.
