Mogadishu, Somalia — The Federal Government of Somalia has intensified preparations for the next phase of its counter-terrorism cooperation with the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), following a high-level consultative meeting held today at the Ministry of Defence headquarters.
The session was chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Idiris Osman Haji and focused on coordinating national efforts for the effective rollout of IMCTC-supported projects in 2026. Participants reviewed existing security programmes and explored strategies for integrating them into a unified implementation framework.
According to officials, discussions centred on three key objectives: drafting a comprehensive national action plan aligned with IMCTC priorities, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and identifying Somalia’s technical, financial, and logistical needs to ensure smooth execution.
Senior representatives from the country’s security sector and partner ministries attended the meeting and pledged close cooperation to avoid duplication of efforts and accelerate delivery. They emphasized that synchronized planning across institutions is essential to tackling emerging threats and strengthening resilience.
Deputy Minister Haji underscored the government’s resolve to turn policy commitments into tangible results, noting that Somalia’s partnership with IMCTC is a vital pillar of its broader security reform agenda.
The outcome of the meeting reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to coordinated and accountable counter-terrorism action, signalling a more structured approach ahead of the coalition’s 2026 programme cycle.
