Somalia and AFRICOM in Joint Attack against Al-Shabaab

The Federal Government of Somalia is working closely with AFRICOM to coordinate joint attacks against Al-Shabaab.

Yesterday FGS and AFRICOM carried out two airstrikes against the militia group in Qunyo Barrow.

According to Maj. Gen. Bill Gayler, AFRICOM’s Director of Operations, “AFRICOM will continue helping FGS to end Al-Shabaab’s brutality in the country.”

He went further to say, “Our joint attacks are aimed at striking the group’s leadership and fighters. We will also target its facilities and all areas of operations.”

Recently, Al-Shabaab’s leadership made clear its intention to target American interests around the globe. It also endeavors to strike Americans wherever they are.

Initial reports show that the recent attacks by AFRICOM and FGS killed one terrorist while wounding two others.
