Nairobi, Kenya – On Thursday, Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, on Thursday received a courtesy call from Ambassador-designate Joshua Tabah, Canada’s incoming High Commissioner to Somalia. The meeting marked a renewed commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries across key areas of mutual interest, including trade, development, and regional peace.
Their discussion centered on expanding the scope of collaboration to harness opportunities in economic growth and social development, while reinforcing efforts to promote stability across the Horn of Africa. Amb. Abdulle welcomed Canada’s continued engagement in Somalia’s recovery, describing it as a partnership rooted in shared values and a long-standing spirit of friendship.
Canada has been a steadfast development partner to Somalia, contributing significantly to humanitarian assistance, education, and institutional reform over the years. The meeting also underscored the vital role of the Somali-Canadian diaspora — one of the largest Somali communities abroad — whose contributions have enriched Canadian society while playing an integral role in Somalia’s progress and resilience.
Amb. Tabah’s visit comes at a time when Somalia is intensifying its international partnerships to strengthen state institutions, enhance security, and create sustainable economic opportunities. Both envoys reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared vision for a stable and prosperous future.
