Somalia and Djibouti Reaffirm Partnership in Mogadishu Talks

Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday hosted Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Abdoulkader H. Omar at the State House in Mogadishu, where the two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral cooperation, regional security, and economic development.

The talks highlighted the strategic partnership between Somalia and Djibouti, two neighboring nations whose stability and prosperity are closely intertwined. President Mohamud stressed Somalia’s commitment to deepening ties with Djibouti, particularly in the fight against terrorism and in advancing shared development goals.

Minister Omar reaffirmed Djibouti’s strong support for Somalia’s state-building efforts, praising ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening governance and economic resilience. He also underlined Djibouti’s readiness to collaborate more closely on regional initiatives, including security cooperation and trade facilitation.

The leaders discussed opportunities to boost cross-border economic activity, with a focus on infrastructure, investment, and transport links that could accelerate integration between the two nations and enhance their access to regional markets.

Djibouti, which hosts regional and international security partners, continues to play a central role in Somalia’s stabilization and security efforts.
