Somalia and Egypt have agreed to strengthen military and security cooperation following discussions between Somalia’s Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur and Egypt’s Defence Minister Abdul Majeed Saqr in Cairo.
The talks focused on enhancing collaboration in counter-terrorism, capacity building, and strategic defense initiatives.
Additionally, Egypt expressed interest in contributing to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which is set to replace the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
Both nations emphasized the importance of joint efforts to promote regional stability and security.
