Somalia has signed an agreement to cooperate with Ethiopia in the fields of security and police training.
The two neighboring Horn of Africa nations signed the agreement on Friday, December 9.
Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar, the Somali Police Force (SPF) commander signed the agreement with Damelesh Garbamichel.
Garbamichel is the Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police (EFP).
The two met and held discussions in Addis Ababa where Maj. Gen. Hijar is currently on an official visit.
Somalia and Ethiopia are interested in cooperating to defeat Al-Shabaab terrorists.
They would also like to see their police officers take part in joint training to equip them with the skills necessary for combating crime and terrorism in today’s world.
