Somalia has signed a deal with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to support those affected by drought.
The deal is worth $45 million.
Somalia’s Ministry of Public Works signed the deal with IOM on condition that the World Bank provides the funds.
World Bank will provide the funds under the Somalia Urban Resilience Project Phase II (SURP-II), an ongoing project in the country.
IOM will administer the funds.
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mogadishu, Baidoa, and Garowe will be the biggest beneficiaries.
IOM believes that drought displaced over 1.3 million Somalis in the country since January 2021.
