Somalia and Kuwait Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Doha Talks

Doha, Qatar – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Hamad Al-Sabah on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, where the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening relations between their nations.

The discussions centered on enhancing the long-standing partnership between Somalia and Kuwait, with both sides emphasizing the importance of cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian fields. President Mohamud highlighted Somalia’s ongoing recovery efforts, stressing that strategic partnerships with Gulf nations like Kuwait remain vital to achieving sustainable growth and stability.

Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah praised Somalia’s resilience and reiterated Kuwait’s readiness to support initiatives that strengthen bilateral relations. He noted that Kuwait, a longstanding ally of Somalia, continues to play a significant role in humanitarian aid, infrastructure development, and education projects in the Horn of Africa nation.

The leaders also explored new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in investment, trade, and development programs, while aligning their shared vision for peace and security in the region.

Observers see the meeting as a step toward revitalizing Somalia’s diplomatic and economic ties with Gulf states, as Mogadishu seeks to secure more foreign investment and expand its regional partnerships.
