Turkish Ambassador Alper Aktaş and Somali Defence Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi met at the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu to discuss deepening the bilateral security and defense ties between their two nations. These discussions centered on shared priorities and the broadening of a partnership considered vital for Somalia’s long-term stability. Turkey remains a major supporter of Somalia, offering comprehensive assistance in military training, institutional strengthening, and capacity development for Somali security structures.
Following the meeting, Minister Fiqi acknowledged Turkey on social media as a principal partner and ally that delivers broad-based support instrumental in reinforcing the nation’s defense institutions. The talks are anticipated to enhance Somalia’s security capacity and bolster ongoing initiatives to build professional, self-sustaining national forces while improving operational readiness against militant threats.
