The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the United Kingdom are to work together to tackle climate change in the East African nation.
On August 22, Mahdi M. Gulaid, Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, and Kate Foster, the UK Ambassador to Somalia, held a discussion on this issue.
During the meeting, Gulaid and Ambassador Foster discussed the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) that Somalia recently submitted to the United Nations.
Their meeting comes as part of the preparations for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), which is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 12, 2021 in the UK.
Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid promised that Somalia would work closely with the UK and other international partners to tackle the effects of climate change in the country.
