Somalia and UN Launch the 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan

Somalia and the United Nations have launched the 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan.

The East African nation launched the plan jointly with the UN on February 8.

In the event held on Wednesday to launch the plan, Somalia and the UN indicated that they have to raise $2.6 billion.

The funds would enable them to address the humanitarian needs of 7.6 million in Somalia.

Somalia has suffered a devastating drought because of failed rains in five consecutive seasons. There are fears that famine could also follow.

The drought has displaced countless people from their homes.
