The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) announced plans to recruit a fresh batch of teachers for the public schools around the country.
Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, the federal Minister of Education, recently announced these plans.
The education minister added that the government was looking into hiring 3,000 new teachers as a strategy for enhancing the education system.
He added that the recruitment of new teachers would also help to combat poverty.
According to the minister, the recruitment would commence in March 2024.
“The government, through the education ministry, seeks to increase the number of teachers in the country to as much as 10,000 by 2025,” said the minister.
Meanwhile, the government will increase funding to the education sector to 10% from the existing 3%.
