Somalia has appealed for drought relief assistance from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Special Envoy for Drought Response, delivered the call for assistance on behalf of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Abdishakur delivered the message to Hissein Brahim Taha, the OIC Secretary-General on Sunday, August 14.
Specifically, the Special Envoy briefed Taha about the ongoing drought in Somalia.
During their meeting, Abdishakur and Secretary-General Taha discussed ways of scaling up drought response efforts in Somalia.
