MALABO — Somalia was officially represented at the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) in Malabo by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
Boosting Economic Collaboration
During the high-level summit, the Minister delivered a significant policy speech emphasizing Somalia’s key national priorities. His address focused particularly on boosting cross-border economic collaboration and actively increasing the nation’s involvement in major international forums to create sustainable development prospects.
This push for greater participation in global frameworks aligns perfectly with Mogadishu’s recent strategic engagements at the World Trade Organization (WTO), demonstrating a unified federal strategy to integrate the domestic economy into international markets.
Strengthening Diplomatic Alliances
In addition to the main plenary proceedings, Minister Abdisalam engaged in crucial bilateral discussions with representatives and diplomats from other member states. These strategic side meetings were designed to explore new frameworks to enhance diplomatic relations and broaden diverse areas of cooperation, directly supporting Somalia’s wider strategy to solidify its international partnerships.
In his closing remarks, the Minister reiterated Somalia’s steadfast dedication to collaborating with all OACPS member nations. He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to realizing the organization’s long-term objectives of peace, shared prosperity, and authentic, robust cooperation among countries throughout Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
