Somalia has submitted its bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
If the bid is successful, Somalia will hold the seat from 2025 to 2026.
Somalia’s interest is strengthened by the fact that the seat is due to go to an East African nation.
It has to convince the African Union (AU) which holds a session on November 21 to discuss the matter.
Through the Somali Mission to the UN, it reminded the world of its trustworthiness.
Somalia said that the country is ready to champion peace and security on the continent.
UNSC will hold elections for this seat in the middle of 2024.
