Mogadishu, Somalia — Senior officials from the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAG) met on Saturday with representatives from the Ministry of Ports and executives of Mogadishu Alport Corporation (Albayrak-Somalia) to accelerate the implementation of audit recommendations and address operational challenges at the Port of Mogadishu.
The high-level meeting sought to reinforce transparency, strengthen financial controls, and enhance accountability at one of the country’s most critical revenue-generating institutions. Discussions focused on streamlining procedures, improving compliance with regulatory frameworks, and tackling inefficiencies highlighted in recent audit reports.
Mogadishu Alport Corporation — operated under a public-private partnership by the Turkish firm Albayrak — committed to cooperating fully with Somali authorities to resolve existing gaps and improve service delivery.
The Ministry of Ports reaffirmed its support for institutional reforms and emphasized the importance of regular audits in ensuring public confidence and effective governance of national assets.
Saturday’s meeting is part of Somalia’s broader efforts to strengthen public financial management, combat corruption, and attract sustainable investment by aligning operations with international standards of transparency.
