Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia has approved three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in education and research with Uganda, Qatar, and Algeria. The decision was made during Thursday’s weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji at the Office of the Prime Minister in Mogadishu.
The agreements are designed to promote academic collaboration, joint research programs, and the exchange of expertise between Somali institutions and their counterparts in the three partner countries. Officials said the MoUs will also facilitate scholarships, curriculum development, and institutional capacity-building to strengthen Somalia’s education sector.
In addition to approving the agreements, the Cabinet heard comprehensive security briefings from the ministries of internal security and defense. The reports covered progress in ongoing counterterrorism operations, stabilization efforts in newly recovered areas, and measures to maintain public safety in major cities.
Deputy Prime Minister Haji praised the dedication of Somalia’s security forces and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and stability. He also emphasized that educational advancement and security progress are both essential pillars of Somalia’s national recovery and development agenda.
