Mogadishu (SONNA) Somalia is observing National Teachers’ Day today with a large ceremony at the National Sports Village within Stadium Mogadishu. The occasion gathered high-level government officials, educators, and the broader public to pay tribute to the nation’s teachers.
Somalia established 21 November 1974 as Teachers’ Day, an annual event where the government and citizens together acknowledge the essential role that educators play in building the country.
This day stands as one of Somalia’s premier national holidays. In keeping with yearly custom, schools and educational institutions nationwide close, allowing students and communities to contemplate and honor teachers’ critical role in the country’s social and national progress.
