Somalia celebrated the World Patient Safety Day on September 16 by holding an event that attracted several stakeholders.
The Ministry of Health held the event in Mogadishu.
Some of the stakeholders at the event included Directors of the Ministry of Health. Pediatricians were also well represented at the event.
Dr. Abdinasir Sh Mukhtar, the Director General at the health ministry, led his colleagues from the health sector in marking this year’s celebrations.
Dr. Mukhtar reminded participants of the importance of ensuring the safety of mothers and infants.
He spoke of the high mortality that is still prevalent in Somalia in 2021. Dr. Mukhtar told the audience that guaranteeing patient safety is the only way of reducing the mortality rates.
