The Minister of Information, Daud Aweis, announced that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) commended Somalia for its strides in assuming greater responsibility for its national security.
This progress is exemplified by Somali security forces taking over operational duties from 7,000 ATMIS troops, who have been gradually drawn down since 2022.
The move reflects Somalia’s efforts to strengthen its security capabilities and move toward self-reliance.
