Somalia Concludes Grade 12 Exams Amid Cheers and Optimism

Mogadishu — Somalia’s Grade 12 national examinations successfully concluded on Thursday after several tense days, as thousands of students across the country completed the crucial milestone.

Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, joined students in Mogadishu to celebrate the end of the exams, praising their perseverance and pledging that marking would be completed promptly.

Addressing the students at one of the city’s main exam centers, the minister acknowledged the excitement and relief visible on their faces.

“Your hard work deserves recognition. We will make sure that marking is completed as quickly as possible so you can receive your results without delay,” he told the gathered students.

This year’s exams were conducted smoothly under enhanced security and improved coordination by the ministry, a continuation of Somalia’s progress in the education sector.

The minister noted that enrollment rates across the nation have risen steadily in recent years and that the quality of education — including better teaching standards and more transparent testing processes — is markedly better than a decade ago.

Somali education experts see this as part of a broader commitment to rebuilding public trust in schools and preparing the youth for future opportunities.

Parents and educators alike expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to ensure credible examinations as Somalia continues its steady recovery.

The ministry is expected to announce the Grade 12 exam results in the coming weeks.
