The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has condoled Turkey in the wake of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has rocked the European nation.
Turkey woke up to the news that the earthquake near Gaziantep had left close to 912 people dead on Monday morning.
The same earthquake left close to 582 Syrians dead too.
Somalia joined the rest of the world in mourning with Turkey and Syria.
Tremors from the earthquake were felt as far away as Israel and Lebanon.
Nurdagi, an area in Gaziantep, was the epicenter of the 4 a.m. earthquake. Aftershocks then followed a few hours later.
Somalia called Turkey a “brotherly government and people” in the condolences that it issued through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“Our thoughts and solidarity are with the families and individuals affected in the tragic event,” the foreign affairs statement added.
