Somalia Confirms 229 New COVID-19 Cases

Somalia’s Ministry of Health confirmed that the country had recorded 229 new COVID-19 cases from tests conducted in the last in the last 24 hours.

The health ministry issued details of these new figures on February 22.

The new cases emerged out of 2,476 tests that the health ministry had carried out in various parts of the country.

However, Banadir Region was responsible for 117 of the new cases.

Puntland and Somaliland had 63 and 46 cases respectively.

Consequently, the new figures have pushed the tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the East African nation to 6,246.

Deaths now stand at 208 after 14 people lost their lives.

In the meantime, the health ministry gladly celebrated 21 more recoveries that raise the number of people to have made a successful recovery from the deadly disease to 3,778.

Over the last two weeks, the health ministry has warned that Somalia is currently experiencing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
