On February 21, Turkish foreign affairs ministry issued a press statement on the ongoing situation in the East African nation.

In the statement, Turkey said that it was concerned over the negative developments in Somalia emanating from the dispute over elections.

The foreign affairs ministry urged all stakeholders in Somalia to “act with common sense.”

Specifically, Turkey requested all parties in these developments to stay away from acts that could lead to violence and instability.

Turkey encouraged Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) to reengage in dialogue to find solutions to the political disputes bedeviling the entire nation.
