Somalia’s Ministry of Health has confirmed 54 new cases of the deadly COVID-19 from samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The health ministry published details of the new cases on August 15.
In its daily briefing, the ministry noted that Puntland led the latest count with 25 cases while Banadir came second with 24 cases.
Somaliland and Galmudug each had two cases while Jubaland recorded only one.
Five more people succumbed to the disease thus pushing the tally of fatalities to 883.
According to the health ministry, 34 people recovered from the disease to push the number of recoveries to 7,947.
Currently, confirmed cases have risen to 16,319.
