Somalia Confirms Third Coronavirus Case in the Space of One Month

On Friday, Somalia confirmed its third case of Coronavirus case. The announcement signals the third positive case in less than a month.

A couple of weeks ago, the Horn of Africa nation announced the first confirmed case of COVID-19 from a group of four individuals placed on quarantine after traveling back from China.

Since then, the East African nation has put several measures in place to stop the further spread of the pandemic around the country.

Yesterday, the United Nations announced that the latest confirmed case was of an employee working for a commercial contractor it hired.

United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) had quarantined the contractor for eight days before medical officers diagnosed him with COVID-19.

Currently, medical and security officials are tracing all people who may have been exposed to the patient.
