The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has confirmed two new COVID-19 cases thus bringing the total in the country to seven.
Dr. Fowziya Abikar, the country’s Minister of Health, said that one of the cases is a Somali national. She clarified that the other one is a foreigner working with the United Nations.
Dr. Fowziya said, “We have recorded two more COVID-19 cases. One is a Somali national and the other a foreigner working at UNSOM facility in Mogadishu.”
Health authorities in the country announced that one of the quarantined patients has recovered fully while the rest remain in isolation receiving treatment.
Somalia has taken several measures designed to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country. These include shutting the country’s airspace to international and domestic flights.
Health ministry has asked Somalis to observe social distancing and wash their hands to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Horn of Africa nation.
