Somalia Declares Three-Day Eid al-Adha Holiday

Mogadishu – The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has officially announced a three-day public holiday in Somalia to mark Eid al-Adha (Ciiddul Adxaa) in 2025.

According to the ministry’s statement, the national holiday will begin on Saturday, June 7, and continue through Monday, June 9, 2025. All public institutions, government offices, and most private businesses are expected to observe the break.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

The ministry extended its congratulations to the Somali people and the entire Muslim Ummah, wishing them a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration.
