Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday formally received the letters of credence from eight newly appointed ambassadors, marking a significant step in Somalia’s ongoing diplomatic outreach and commitment to strengthening international cooperation.
The accredited envoys include Suleiman Dedefo Woshe of Ethiopia, Robert Ifriyie of Ghana, Maes Ennio of Ivory Coast, Alejandro Eves Estivill Castro of Mexico, Moravia Peralt Hernandez of Venezuela, Kang Hyundshik of South Korea, Hussein Deh of Mauritania, and Kahtan Taha Khalaf of Iraq.
The ceremony, held at Villa Somalia, underscores Mogadishu’s expanding diplomatic footprint and its openness to cultivating bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
In welcoming the ambassadors, President Mohamud emphasized Somalia’s desire to deepen mutual cooperation in areas such as economic development, regional security, education, and climate resilience. He also reaffirmed Somalia’s readiness to engage in constructive dialogue with international partners and leverage these relationships to promote peace and prosperity at home and abroad.
The newly accredited diplomats expressed their respective governments’ commitment to boosting ties with Somalia and supporting its post-conflict recovery and development goals.
This latest round of diplomatic accreditation reflects Somalia’s growing status on the global stage as it continues its journey toward stability, regional integration, and international cooperation.
