Somalia Denies Asking Tanzania to Mediate Row with Ethiopia

Somalia denied reports spreading like bushfire on social media to the effect that it has asked Tanzania to intervene in its row with Ethiopia.

Earlier on Thursday, a letter purportedly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

In the letter, Somalia acknowledged the “strained” diplomatic relations with Ethiopia.

It then proceeded to invite Tanzania to lead mediation efforts between the two neighboring nations in the region.

However, the foreign affairs ministry called the letter “fake.”

It went further to ask the public to cease spreading lies and misinformation.

The ministry urged the media to uphold truth and accountability as a remedy for maintaining public trust.
