Somalia has disbanded all federal and state electoral commissions.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced the disbandment of the teams on Sunday, May 29.
In his press release announcing their disbandment, Prime Minister Roble indicated that the commissions had completed their mandate.
Somalia had established several State Elections Implementation Teams (SEITs) and one Federal Elections Implementation Team (FEIT).
A Dispute and Resolutions Commission also helped deliver the just concluded elections.
However, with the elections now over and a new President as well as parliamentary leadership in place, Prime Minister Roble believes the teams serve no more purpose.
Somalia concluded its electioneering period by holding presidential elections on May 15.
