Somalia handed over $4.8 million to help the victims of last month’s earthquake disaster in Turkey.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre led other government officials in handing over the funds to officials of the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu.
Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe of the House of the People attended the handing-over ceremony too.
The Lower House Speaker is the Acting President of Somalia in the absence of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Currently, President Mohamud is in Doha, Qatar.
Thus far, Turkey has recorded over 45,000 deaths from the earthquake.
Uncountable buildings and crucial infrastructure lie in ruins from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the European nation early last month.
Turkish officials from the Embassy expressed gratitude for the warm gesture of kindness.
