Kinshasa, DRC – In Kinshasa, DRC, Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the East African Community, Ilyas Ali Hassan, conferred with DRC Immigration Authority Director General Roland Kashwantale Chihoza on measures to relax travel restrictions for Somali nationals, per a Somali mission statement.
The discussions in Kinshasa focused on boosting visa access, cutting administrative delays for Somali travelers, and advancing technical collaboration between the two nations.
Officials examined ways to improve information-sharing protocols for managing regional migration more effectively.
Amb. Hassan highlighted Somalia’s drive to heighten regional involvement and facilitate freer movement for its expanding business and diaspora communities across East and Central Africa.
Chihoza endorsed the proposal, voicing the DRC’s commitment to simplifying processes and promoting expanded diplomatic ties.
This engagement reflects Somalia’s continuing push for more lenient mobility options for its citizens while fortifying links with nearby countries.
