MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today received Egypt’s newly appointed Ambassador to Somalia, Mohamed Salah Khashta, at his office in the capital.
The significant security dialogue was also attended by Somali National Armed Forces Commander Major General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, underscoring the importance of the meeting between the two neighboring nations.
Talks centered on strengthening the historical bonds between Somalia and Egypt, with particular focus on advancing their defense sector collaboration. Both officials examined opportunities to boost cooperation, including enhancing capabilities of Somali forces and joint efforts to maintain regional stability.
Fiqi welcomed Amb. Khashta and affirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to partnering with Egypt on shared security objectives. The meeting indicates an ongoing reinforcement of military and diplomatic ties between Mogadishu and Cairo during this crucial period for regional security.
