Somalia Endorses New Unified TVET Curriculum to Boost Youth Employment

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education has concluded a pivotal two-day workshop in Mogadishu to validate the newly revised and harmonized Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum. The event gathered 70 participants, including representatives from TVET centers, curriculum experts, and education officials from the Federal Member States and the Benadir Regional Administration.

After months of consultation and review, the curriculum was unanimously endorsed—marking a major milestone in Somalia’s education reform efforts. Designed to meet both national education standards and the evolving demands of the labor market, the revised curriculum aims to equip young Somalis with the practical skills necessary to thrive in a competitive economy.

Officials hailed the collaborative process as a model of unity and shared purpose. Directors General from Federal Member State Ministries of Education and the Rajo Kaaba Project Manager commended the joint effort, emphasizing that a standardized TVET curriculum will create pathways for employment and self-reliance among Somali youth.

The endorsement of the national TVET curriculum is expected to strengthen coordination across training institutions, improve the quality of instruction, and align education outcomes with real-world economic opportunities. It represents a decisive step toward transforming technical and vocational education into a cornerstone of Somalia’s broader development and employment agenda.
