Somalia Expresses Solidarity with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Administration

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) expressed solidarity with the Ethiopian administration over the ongoing tussle with Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

Over the last week, Prime Minister Abiy’s government deployed Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) soldiers to Tigray for war with TPLF.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister accused TPLF of crossing the red line when it attacked several military bases in the region.

On Wednesday, November 18, FGS’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued an official statement expressing solidarity with the Ethiopian government.

In the letter, Somalia said that it “supports the unity of Ethiopia.”

Further, Somalia also continued to encourage the two sides to embrace dialogue to “end the internal conflict amicably.”

The foreign affairs ministry reiterated Somalia’s willingness to “extend its support to solve the current situation in Ethiopia.”

It promised to stand with Prime Minister Abiy’s government to “keep constitutional order.”
