Somalia Food Security Efforts to Benefit from UK Donation

Efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to improve food security in the country are set to benefit from a donation by the United Kingdom.

The government of the UK donated £5 million to boost food aid efforts in Somalia.

Several other countries are set to benefit from the donation too. These include South Sudan, Nigeria, Syria, Sahel, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Mozambique, and Venezuela.

A communiqué from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office indicated that the funds are to help over 139,000 in these countries.

The latest funds are part of the over £47 million that the UK government has set aside to support humanitarian efforts in the aforementioned countries.

Dominic Raab, the UK Foreign Secretary, said that the £5 million is an extra-emergency aid from the government to ensure that vulnerable people can feed their households.
