Somalia has completed four polio vaccination campaigns since the beginning of the year.
World Health Organization (WHO) announced this on October 24 during this year’s World Polio Day.
The global health body announced that successful vaccination campaigns were only possible through its partnership with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
It made the announcement while launching the fifth round of the vaccination campaign.
Thus far, over 3.6 million children under 5 years old have received the jabs.
Furthermore, 2.4 million children around the country aged 5-10 years old also received polio vaccines this year.
The global health body announced that it had vaccinated 327,467 children for the first time during the previous four vaccination campaigns.
