President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud announced that Somalia has fully settled its financial obligations to the United Nations, a significant milestone reflecting the country’s commitment to its international responsibilities.
Speaking during a televised address on Thursday evening, the President emphasized Somalia’s dedication to becoming “a champion for peace and a voice for the voiceless world” as it prepares to serve on the UN Security Council.
This move underscores Somalia’s growing role in global diplomacy and its intention to contribute actively to international peace and security during its tenure.
The President was speaking shortly after Somalia officially took up its Non-Permanent Seat at the UNSC, where it will serve for the next two years.
