Somalia Holds National Tree Planting Day

Somalia held its national tree planting day this week.

Senior officials from the federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change led the rest of the nation in marking the day.

Ahmed Yusuf, the ministry’s Director General, led the event marked on April 17.

He called on other DGs from the environment ministries of all the Federal Member States (FMS) to take part in the tree planting exercise.

Furthermore, he asked the same of all businessmen and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

According to DG Yusuf, the planting of trees is an effective method for combating the effects of climate change while restoring degraded land.
