Somalia hopes that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) would determine the maritime case with Kenya more favorably.
Mahdi M. Gulaid, the Deputy Prime Minister in the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) said this on Tuesday.
The maritime case at The Hague-based court kicked off on March 15.
Kenya is not represented by any legal team after opting to withdraw from the case.
Nevertheless, ICJ opted to proceed with the matter since it had already received written submissions from Kenya.
While speaking on the matter, Gulaid assured Somalis that FGS unites with them in “defending Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The Deputy Prime Minister was speaking at the end of the second day of oral submissions.
