MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, welcomed the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Pier Mario Daccò, at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu on Friday.
The high-level meeting focused on realigning the long-standing bilateral relationship toward enhanced economic integration and industrial advancement.
Shift to Industrial Partnership
Talks centered on broadening collaboration in development initiatives, with a specific focus on foreign investment and industrial expansion. Both parties assessed the prevailing economic conditions and identified mechanisms to promote a more dynamic transfer of knowledge and resources between businesses in Somalia and Italy.
The officials established a framework to attract foreign investment targeting increased local manufacturing capabilities. A vital element of this plan entails utilizing industrial progress to establish long-term job prospects for young Somalis, addressing a critical national concern.
Commitment to Removing Barriers
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to sustain discussions on eliminating impediments to investment and cultivating a commercial climate that effectively draws Italian funding into Somalia’s developing economy.
