Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia Agree to Reopen Borders

Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia have agreed to reopen their borders.

The three neighboring East African nations agreed to launch a project that would lead to the reopening of their shared borders.

They have all partially or fully closed their borders in recent years owing to increased insecurity.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of Kenya shared this news on Friday while in Mandera to launch the project.

He expressed hope that the project would lead to socio-economic development in the three nations.

The project, dubbed “Good Neighborliness” is up and running courtesy of funding from the government of the United Kingdom.
