Somalia Launches First Pavilion at China-Africa Trade Expo

Changsha, China – Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Ali on Thursday officially inaugurated Somalia’s first-ever national pavilion at the China-Africa Trade Expo in Changsha, marking a milestone in the country’s economic diplomacy.

The pavilion showcases Somalia’s unique export products including frankincense, myrrh, canned tuna, and dried lemons.

The initiative aims to bolster exports, attract Chinese investment, and deepen trade partnerships, particularly in agriculture, fisheries, and traditional medicine.

The event is part of Somalia’s broader engagement under the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), with a focus on revitalizing economic ties and promoting sustainable development.
