Somalia Marks End of 16 Days of Activism against SGBV

Somalia commemorated the end of the 16 Days of Activism against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) on December 10.

Hanifa Mohamed, the Minister of Women and Human Rights Development, presided over the celebrations during the International Human Rights Day.

While addressing the gathering, Mohamed announced that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) remains committed to the fight against human rights abuses in the country.

For decades, the Somali government has been accused of committing tons of human rights abuses.

Civilians, members of civil society organizations, opposition politicians, and journalists have been among the most affected groups as the government commits the abuses.
