Rabat, Morocco – Somalia and Morocco indicated a fresh commitment to enhance their bilateral partnership following a meeting between Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch in Rabat, focusing on diplomacy, trade, and regional development.
The discussions, conducted during PM Barre’s official visit, focused on reinforcing political relations and broadening economic collaboration. Somali representatives stated that the encounter bolsters Somalia’s efforts to expand alliances while pursuing political reforms and solidifying security achievements.
PM Barre updated the Moroccan delegation on Somalia’s advancements in governance, including preparations for the pivotal transition to a one person, one vote electoral model, which he described as embodying Somalia’s dedication to stability, democratic participation, and enduring institutional development.
Akhannouch praised Somalia’s reform path and highlighted Morocco’s desire to intensify cooperation in trade, investment, and public diplomacy. He characterized the partnership as strategically vital for both nations and advocated for a clearer framework to direct upcoming interactions.
